Introducing Cloud 66 EasyDeploy
Today we are taking a big step towards our goal of making deployment and management of open source software easier. We are announcing Cloud 66 EasyDeploy.
What is Cloud 66 EasyDeploy?
Cloud 66 EasyDeploy is a simple way of deploying a project from Github to your own servers in less than 15 minutes on your own servers.
To deploy an open source project, create a Cloud 66 account and use the git repository to deploy it on any server you like.
How does it work?
When you see the Cloud 66 EasyDeploy badge on a repository, you can:
- Sign in to your Cloud 66 account
- Create a new stack with the git URL of the repository
- Make someone a nice cup of coffee while you’re
waiting for the project to be deployed to your own cloud servers.
In some cases you might need to add some information about your
configuration choices to the stack.
Which Projects are EasyDeploy friendly?
We are starting with some of the open source projects we use and love
here at Cloud 66, but this is just the beginning. We are going to set a
standard for deployment of open source projects on the web: from source
code repository to your own servers.
Today we are releasing EasyDeploy for some of the most popular open source developer tools like
management) and more.
We have also written instructions for how you can deploy these projects both on Cloud 66 or on your own.
But really, how does it work?
In most cases we just added a .cloud66 folder to the projects we love. This folder contains our deploy hooks and manifest files. This folder is small and we don’t make changes to the source code directly.
We made these changes in our forked repositories but are hoping to push those changes to the main repositories over time as they are non intrusive.
