By now I’m sure you’ve heard about the soon-to-come-into-effect EU rules around personal data protection, known as GDPR. As a company operating in the EU, we are fully committed to meeting the rules and requirements of the GDPR, and regard our customers’ privacy with the utmost importance.

What we've done to prepare

To comply with the GDPR regulations, we have performed a review of our internal processes and external vendors, and we are pleased to inform that we fulfill all the needed requirements on data processing transparency, internally and externally, as required by the GDPR.

For our customers, we have put together general documentation to meet the needs of those that want to know more, and legal annex documents for those that want to formalize this aspect within our commercial relationship. We have also set up a dedicated email account to provide answers to specific questions about data processing, transparency, and handling at Cloud 66 and the external partners and services we use.

GDPR and our deployment models

As part of their own data privacy review, we expect some of our larger users will look into gaining more control through our self-hosted installation models. Here is a hopefully-useful reminder of what those mean with regards to operations.

Cloud 66 offers its tooling on Hosted servers ("SaaS"), Dedicated servers, and On-Prem servers. Key benefits:

Hosted servers
• Control nodes installed on Cloud 66 servers.
• No need to download, install or maintain anything—just sign up on our website.
• Simple, flexible pricing plans and support packages.

Dedicated servers
• Control nodes installed on our public cloud servers peering into your own VPC—deploy from your public cloud environment to any cloud or server.
• Single tenancy, unlimited concurrent builds (Skycap) and build/backup retention.
• Fixed monthly fee—scale as much as you need.
• Submit tickets by email and chat, with free on-boarding.

On-prem servers
• Control nodes installed on your own infrastructure—deploy from your datacenter to any cloud or server.
• Single tenancy, unlimited concurrent builds (Skycap) and build/backup retention.
• Fixed monthly fee—scale as much as you need.
• Submit tickets by email and chat, with premium on-boarding; SLAs available.
• Optimal security and compliance—firewall management, connection to private repos for source control, and more.

A holistic view of secure, compliant operations

Cloud 66 believes in a holistic view of secure, compliant operations—empowering developers but approved by operations. Our tooling provides an operational opinion for developers, combined with the opportunity for savvy users to assert as much control as they need.

We believe compliance with GDPR criteria should include important operational details like alternate deployment models, fine-grained user access control, advanced secrets management, vulnerability minimization and scanning, ease-of-use with private registries, and various security tools.
