Happy 2017 and welcome to the Cloud 66 Changelog. Please take a quick look at the latest changes that went out this week!
Binary Backups
Today, we are thrilled to announce a new fantastic feature available to our users, called Binary Backups. This feature provides a fast method to create and restore backups for a large database, while the server is still up and running. To achieve that we are taking a snapshot of your database service and applying required logs to have a consistent data folder. As a result, you can restore your data on your server to the same state as it was at the time of backups.
For more details visit our blog Faster Backups for your Databases.
Ubuntu v16.04
The new Ubuntu v16.04 is now available at Cloud 66! This means that from now on, servers on the new stacks will be provisioned with Ubuntu 16.04. And the servers on the old stacks will continue to use Ubuntu 14.04.
We strongly recommended that you switch to the newest version of Ubuntu, as soon as possible, so you can benefit from all the new upgrades.
Read our blog, Ubuntu 16.06 Support for more information.
Cloud 66 ChatOps: Igor
We are happy to introduce a new feature available to Cloud 66 customers called Igor, a Cloud 66 ChatOps bot. Igor is an open source Slack-bot that will act as your very own personal assistant that operates on your stacks directly from the Slack chat window.

Cloud 66-user
From now on cloud66-user
is created on all new services across all cloud providers and registered services, as opposed to ubuntu
, ec2-user
, or root
for various clouds. This takes out the guesswork for the user as it provides consistency.
For example: deploy hooks, once written, will work consistently across all clouds. :)
Elasticsearch v5.0.2
Elasticsearch v5.0.2 is now available at Cloud 66. This version included some bug fixes related to Elasticsearch 5.0.0 and 5.0.1.
